Hello everyone, David Nelly from Safe Money Makers here, and today I want to talk to you about making money online with Anime. Does that sound ridiculous? Too good to be true? Well, by the time you’re done with this article, I am going to open your mind to thousands of new ideas on how to make money with anime, and perhaps one hundred thousand ideas to making money in general.
And I am not talking about investing a few million dollars to start up an anime studio or spending 7 years to learn how to draw in a professional manga style. In fact, the biggest skill you’ll have to learn in terms of art is the ability to write a little text.
Anime is a huge industry and has become mainstream media, today in 2022, there are over 2 billion people who watch anime. Anime produces merchandise and entertainment products.
Video Games, Action Figures, Posters, Shirts, Pants, hats.
And anime fans are tooth over nails for these kinds of products!
Have you ever been to, or heard about an anime convention? Of course, you have, you wouldn’t be reading this post if you haven’t
How many people do you think were attending this anime convention at NYC that dressed up? Probably thousands, how much money do you think was spent on these anime costumes?
I would personally guestimate that you’re cosplay costs can go from around $45 to $120
Okay, David, so what’s the catch, how does what people spend their money on in terms of anime have any effect on me?
Well, my dear reader, I am stating these facts because I want you to understand how huge of a market Anime really is, and yeah I get i- “quit it with the tomfoolery David obviously I know there’s a frickin market in anime” Yes yes yes, I know that you know, but here’s the thing, you could be taking advantage of that market!
**Drumroll please, introducing affiliate marketing**
Affiliate Marketing is when you create content based on an audience that enjoys a certain market of products, also known as a niche. In the case of our post, should you follow along, you will be creating content for customers that enjoy anime.
The way that we will communicate to this audience, as well as create content for them is through a website. What we do is answer questions and create reviews based on products people in the anime world are looking for, and link the product in question within the review with an affiliate link. If your audience clicks on your affiliate link, you will make a commission!
If you are unfamiliar with what Affiliate Marketing is or if I didn’t do a good enough job of explaining it, you can read an in-depth article about affiliate marketing here, and if you are still confused, you can email me at davidnelson@safemoneymakers.com or leave a comment below.
The money is in the niche!
With the niche of anime, there is a high yield of avenues that you can adventure down into. Now, with a brand new website starting out, you are going to want to niche down in the anime world to a specific segment of the anime niche. As you grow you can branch out into other categories, but in the beginning, you want to start small.
So we are going to niche down and give you some inspirations on all the marketplaces you can tackle in anime, since we just did a cosplay example(maybe not your thing, I get it) I think we’ll take a look at sub-niching down to anime collectibles!
Anime Collectibles Niche:
What kind of audience to promote anime collectibles to:
-People who love nifty little collectibles, people who are looking for a gift to their significant other, or sibling, etc.
-Cosplay lovers
-Anime Home Decor hobbyists
-Action figure enthusiasts
-Bobblehead enthusiasts
-Keychain enthusiasts
What kind of keywords to target/content to create!
Some examples can be as follows
-Top 10 (insert any manga/anime) franchised gifts for your boyfriend who grew up loving (insert any anime/manga)
-Blog about and review new episodes of your favorite show(add banner affiliate links to toys/merchandise in the corner widgets of your blog
Other Anime Niches with affiliate program payments:
Anime’s in general, create content around trending anime or review your favorite old-school anime. Could sub-niche into various genres of anime, or niche it out via the times. Anime from 2000-2010, retro anime, Greek God anime, anime with ninja, anime with monsters, etc and so forth.
You can monetize this by promoting streaming services. Hulu, Amazone Prime Video, Apple TV+, and Peacock TV are some streaming services I can come up with off the top of my head that have both an affiliate program and anime for viewers to watch. I’d get more detailed with the payments and everything but, this blog is in its infancy stage and we still haven’t gotten to reviewing every single streaming service affiliate program yet. I think Hulu is like $5 a sale.
You could also promote VPN’s
Streaming services are pretty notorious for geoblocking content. If you could do some research and discover exactly what anime content is blocked in a certain region and then create a VPN tutorial on how to unblock certain content, you could sell VPNs while promoting anime at the same time!
Nord VPN’s Affiliate Program pays 40% first-time purchase commission and 30% Recurring commissions to renewal’s
Manga: Use your website to promote manga volumes to your audience!
Some of the best affiliate programs for Manga are Comixology(cloud-based comic book store), Saiyan Stuff(Dragon ball manga only)
Otakupicks, Right Stuf Anime, and if all else fails, you can make Jeff Bezos some more money and earn some small commissions from amazon
How to create any kind of content you want in the anime niche and make conversions no matter what!
Anime is one of my favorite niches because the monetization conversion factors are based on the trust that the audience has with the reader, and not review posts.
With a niche like PC gaming, the audience will buy a PC based on its power, its Memory, how good the motherboard is, how good the graphics cards are, etc.
People in the Otaku niche, however, take more of an “I see it I want it I got it approach”
Especially when it comes to the merchandised types of clothing/items. If I wanted to buy a cool Attack On Titan Survey corps jacket to bring to the anime convention with the bros, I’m not exactly going to look up reviews
Maybe If I was a fashion blogger I would give a review of the fabric quality of the Tolin, but my audience is anime fans! No one is going to type in the search term “Anime Attack on Titan Denim Hoodie Jacket Adult Unisex Novelty Coat Review”
I’d see it, I’d think it looks cool. If I was in a store next to the product, I might feel it to make sure it has good fabric and looks company, but if I were on amazon, my purchase might be judged on its looks. I would probably go down below to look at the reviews of the product from other customers, but if your site sent you to the product page, you did your part, now you just have to wait 24 hours for them to either buy that sweatshirt, or something else(that’s the nice thing about cookie length).
Same thing with posters.
What do you think is going to get traffic and convert?
“Demon slayer poster of Tanjiro surrounded by flame and a dude behind him review” or “Top 10 Demon slayer posters to eliminate the demons lurking your home”?
Probably the second one right? It’s easy content to create. You just have to find what your audience is looking for and create content for it. How do you even write a review for a poster? Unless I suppose if you were some sophisticated judgemental artist could you review posters, but no one is going into the search address bar to find that kind of content.
In the next section, I am going to show you just how huge you’re wealth can expand with an Otaku blog. It sounds silly, but trust me, money is just a concept, you don’t need a college degree to make millions, ever heard of Tik Tok?
Example of a big money-maker anime blog with a simple premise:
Quote The Anime
What kind of content do they create?
Very simple easy content geared towards anime fans. Examples of the content include:
And of course, they also make the content that lives up to their name, anime quotes.
Okay, but do they actually make money?
The answer is yes
They make an estimation of $70,000 a month and have over a million people coming to their site a month.
All from fun little character bios and quote posts. Not a single product review can be found on their site.
How do they Monetize?
Quote The Anime monetizes with ads in the bottom and corner widgets of their posts.
Also, not sure if you noticed yet, but on the header of their website they have a store, and this header is always displaced to the viewer for every post they view, every corner of the website displays their header.
Now, what’s inside this store?
Merchandising products from every anime you could conceive from A-Z
Now, Quote The Anime uses a manufacturer to create products to sell on the blog(which is incredibly cool by the way), and this is a difficult feat of accomplishment, knowing how to negotiate with small manufacturing companies, definitely not a task a beginner affiliate marketer is ready to take on.
However, you can easily replicate the same style of the store Quote The Anime has with affiliate links to products from Amazon, Right Stuf Anime, and Otaku picks.
More big-money anime blogs:
Anime Motivation:
The same type of site as Quote The Anime, but they use affiliate links for their store tab, not manufacturing partnership
Anime News Network:
A site that covers the latest news in all corners of the anime world.
Monetization method:
Anime News Network only uses ads, they might use some affiliate links but I didn’t go deep in the depths enough to find any, so it looks like they only use ads. This is inspiring because it proves that you can have success with an anime blog without even needing to resort to affiliate marketing!
If you feel inspired, but maybe perhaps you want to make money in a niche that isn’t anime, this article explains how to make money in any niche.
The tools and training that you need to guarantee success:

Now all you need is a plan of action to put everything into place, to make this all reachable, and prevent overwhelming chaos from clouding your judgment on your path to success.
You need the right tools and the right training for the job. Sure you can join forums like just start on Reddit and get some tricks for affiliate marketing, but you need an organized course.
That’s where Wealthy Affiliate comes in!

It contains training that is taught in a step-by-step format that is easy to follow! Along with this training is the ability to communicate with expert affiliate marketers at all times a day.
Most affiliate training platforms fail because they don’t provide one-on-one feedback with the course takers. They just take the lessons of the training, and they can’t get any help. Now, I have already completed the training at Wealthy Affiliate, but I still stick around. The reason being is that they offer the most comprehensive website hosting available on the market. That’s a wrap folks, and let me be honest, I haven’t even covered 25% of all the possibilities that can go into making money online with Anime! Just the tip of the iceberg in fact! All of these ideas are just the ones in the back of my head, so I can’t even imagine what a real Otaku anime fan could come up with!
Success in this niche is dependent on your passion for the niche, and while I possess some passion for anime, I’m more into the mainstream shows like Attack On Titan, Demon Slayer, Naruto, Bleach, and these categories of anime are definitely enough to get some really good money coming your way, but imagine what creative entrepreneur endeavors otakus could come up with when possessing knowledge that far outreaches what I posses!

Anime is probably one of the fastest growing markets in niche advertising. I remember watching my sons develop a deep affinity with anime. My oldest son is still involved in anime as a recreational viewer.
Anime lovers will go to great lengths to either cosplay or to buy anime products. They will spend a small fortune to get just the right costume or device from their favorite anime character.

I agree, and you don’t even need to do all these product reviews in this niche, like you would with, say a hunting niche, or boating niche, all you need to do is create content that will resonate with the audience for anime lovers!~
